Acid RainAcid rain is rain that has been made acidic by certain pollutants in the air. Acid rain is a type of acid deposition, which can appear in many forms. Wet deposition is rain, sleet, snow, or fog that has become more acidic than normal. Dry deposition is another form of acid deposition, and this is when gases and dust particles become acidic. Both wet and dry deposition can be carried by the wind, sometimes for very long distances. Acid deposition in wet and dry forms falls on buildings, cars, and trees and can make lakes acidic. Acid deposition in dry form can be inhaled by people and can cause health problems in some people. Acid rain is very harmful and can damage buildings, statues, human health and many other things. Acid rain is very harmful and causes damage to the environment. It damages everything over a period of time. It affects the life in water as well. Acid rain pollutes the water and causes damage to the marine life. It affects the marine life more than the life on land as fishes require oxygen dissolved in water and because of acid rain many marine animals can die. Atmosphere deposits a lot of toxic metals into the forests as acid rain contains metals. Some of these metals are lead, zinc, copper, chromium and aluminum. Acid rain can harm us in many ways. It can affect our health. It can cause breathing and lung problems. It can also damage non-living things like buildings, statues etc. by decaying the building material and paints. We can reduce pollution by reducing the car use. Pollution is caused by the electrical energy also. When electricity is created, fuels are burned which causes pollution and lead to acid rain. Acid rain hurts many things. Some things that are being hurt by acid rain are trees, animals, and most of all, sea life. People can help stop acid rain by not polluting the air. When the chemicals in the air turn into a gas and evaporate, they mix with the water vapor, and cause acid rain. Even kids can help prevent this pollution by using less electricity and using transportation that is friendly to the environment. There are many ways that we can reduce pollution which will not lead to acid rain. The ways are:
